Jessica Magufuli, the daughter of Tanzania’s late President John Pombe Magufuli, has officially entered the race for a parliamentary seat, marking her debut into national politics.

On June 28, 2025, Jessica received her nomination forms to contest for the seat under the youth wing of the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party, a development that has sparked significant public attention across Tanzania.
Her father, the late John Magufuli, served as Tanzania’s president from 2015 until his death in 2021. Many Tanzanians believe Jessica is poised to carry forward his political legacy, given her determination and close ties to her father’s vision.
Dressed in CCM’s iconic yellow and green colours, Jessica accepted the nomination forms, pledging to bring fresh energy and youthful leadership to Parliament.
“I am prepared to serve all Tanzanians with commitment and integrity,” she said during the event.
Jessica outlined her priorities, which include advancing initiatives that support youth empowerment, women’s development, and broader community growth. She also emphasised her desire to ensure that the voices of young people within CCM, through the Umoja wa Vijana wa CCM (UVCCM), are amplified in national decision-making.
Her announcement generated widespread reactions on social media, with many Tanzanians expressing admiration and excitement about her political ambitions.

Supporters view her entry into politics as a continuation of her late father’s legacy, coupled with new, youthful perspectives in leadership.
