In a video posted to his social media accounts, Odhiambo distanced himself from accusations linking him to the protest, which started peacefully but quickly turned violent.

“I was not part of the protest,” he stated, adding, “Any protest must be conducted peacefully. Let authorities investigate thoroughly.”

The MCA was responding to speculation that he helped organize the protest, which escalated after alleged hired goons disrupted the demonstration, leading to scenes of violence and panic in the city.

The protest was part of growing public demands for accountability, especially following claims of police brutality during recent demonstrations.

Odhiambo said he fully supports an investigation by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to identify those responsible for the disruptions.

“I believe the DCI can trace who brought in the goons that turned the protest violent,” he said.

He also warned that he will take legal action against those spreading false accusations, insisting his name has been unfairly dragged into the issue.

“I will pursue legal redress against anyone defaming me,” he asserted.

The protest and ensuing chaos have raised fresh concerns about the state of civil liberties, the right to peaceful assembly, and leadership accountability.

Odhiambo’s remarks come amid rising calls for peaceful engagement from both demonstrators and security forces. Meanwhile, the public awaits the outcome of DCI investigations into the incident.
