Kindiki Set to Be Sworn In as Deputy President

The High Court has lifted the orders preventing Deputy President Designate Kithure Kindiki from taking his oath of office.

The ruling came from a three-judge panel led by Justice Eric Ogola, along with Justices Anthony Mrima and Fredah Mugambi.

This decision effectively removes the conservatory orders, allowing Kindiki to be sworn in as the next Deputy President.

The High Court in Kerugoya had previously issued orders blocking Kindiki from assuming office while a case was being heard regarding his nomination.

David Munyi Mathenge and Peter Gichobi Kamotho filed for these orders after the National Assembly approved Kindiki’s nomination the day following the Senate’s vote to impeach Rigathi Gachagua.

Mathenge and Kamotho have initiated legal action against the Senate, its Speaker, and two other parties. This case was filed urgently before Justice Mwongo Richard Mururu and later consolidated with similar cases from Nairobi.
