Authorities have detained a man suspected of fatally injuring an 8-year-old boy and harming a woman at his ex-partner’s home in Ndenderu, Kiambu County.
The tragic incident unfolded on January 30, 2024, when the boy was on the premises, and the suspect forcefully entered, committing the crime.
According to law enforcement, the man gained entry into the residence, where he fatally harmed the boy and attempted to harm a domestic worker, who managed to flee with severe injuries.
The domestic worker’s outcry during the confrontation alerted neighbors, who intervened.
While neighbors tried to apprehend him, the suspect managed to escape but fell into a pit within the compound.
Subsequently, police, aided by firefighters, extracted him from the pit.
The man’s ex-partner, present during the incident, provided a statement to the police as investigations proceed.
Meanwhile, the boy’s body was transferred to Kihara Hospital Mortuary for autopsy, and the injured domestic worker is undergoing treatment at Kiambu Level 5 Hospital.
The suspect, whose identity remains undisclosed, is in police custody awaiting court proceedings.
