The killing sparked angry protests on Wednesday morning, with residents and boda boda operators blocking roads, lighting bonfires, and demanding immediate intervention from security agencies. Businesses remained closed for most of the day as tension gripped the town.
“We are the ones suffering the most,” said rider Galgalo Boru, noting that the nature of their work often forces them to operate late at night, making them prime targets. He added that insecurity in the region has worsened over the last three months, with several riders injured in violent attacks.
Marsabit Central Deputy County Commissioner David Saruni confirmed the incident, assuring residents that investigations were ongoing and that security personnel were pursuing the suspects. He urged locals to remain calm.
