Karua explained that the offer came after she supported Uhuru’s re-election campaign, but due to her personal principles and those of her party, she chose not to accept the position.
She emphasized that she has been out of office for around 12 years and has no intention of joining a government she does not believe in.
“Our party, Narc Kenya, is grounded in strong principles, and we’ve never joined a government we don’t support,” Karua said. “I was offered a Cabinet Secretary position in Uhuru’s administration, but I turned it down, even though I had supported him. My party has been out of government for 12 years, and we continue to patiently wait for the day when the People’s Liberation Party will rise to power.”
Karua’s comments came ahead of the relaunch of her rebranded party, the People’s Liberation Party, which will now be associated with the color purple, moving away from the previous green color representing Narc Kenya.
In her interview on Citizen TV, Karua also discussed the possibility of forming coalitions, acknowledging that winning elections in Kenya currently requires alliances with others.

She defended her collaboration with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, stating that just like former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and President William Ruto, Gachagua is also a “brother.”
Karua explained that her cooperation with Gachagua is aimed at alleviating the suffering of Kenyans, which makes them allies in this mission.
“Riggy G (Rigathi Gachagua) is a Kenyan, my brother, just like Ruto and Raila are,” Karua remarked. “Though we have different political paths, we are united at this moment with a shared goal of easing the burden on Kenyans, and in that sense, we are allies.”
