Kalonzo, Wamalwa Blame President Ruto for NADCO Report Setback

Kalonzo Musyoka, leader of the Wiper party, along with Eugene Wamalwa of DAP-K, have criticized the Kenyan government led by President William Ruto for failing to uphold the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report. They alleged that a recent court ruling, which halted the report’s implementation, was influenced by Ruto’s administration.

Speaking in Kwale County on Saturday, March 30, 2024, Kalonzo and Wamalwa accused the government of undermining the agreements made during the drafting of the NADCO report at the Bomas of Kenya. They asserted that the court’s actions were orchestrated to obstruct the report’s progress and questioned the government’s commitment to the dialogue process.

Kalonzo emphasized that the court’s intervention was a deliberate attempt to derail the implementation of the NADCO report and expressed disappointment in the lack of cooperation from the Kenya Kwanza regime. He urged for an end to what he described as politically motivated interference in the judicial process.

Wamalwa echoed Kalonzo’s sentiments, highlighting the government’s reluctance to address key issues outlined in the report, particularly concerning electoral audits. He suggested that there might be a concerted effort by the state to sabotage the dialogue process.

The comments from Kalonzo and Wamalwa came after a court in Kiambu issued orders on Friday, March 29, 2024, restraining the National Assembly and the Senate from deliberating on the NADCO report following a legal challenge filed by activist Michael Muchemi.

In a plea to Raila Odinga, leader of Azimio, Kalonzo urged for intervention to ensure the full implementation of the NADCO report, signaling a call for unified action within the opposition coalition.
