Joho: We’ll Chase Away Those Dividing ODM

Mining Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho has cautioned that anyone seeking to divide the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) will face firm resistance from loyal members determined to preserve the party’s unity.

Speaking during the funeral service of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in Bondo on Sunday, Joho reaffirmed his loyalty to the late ODM leader, saying he never betrayed Raila in life and would not do so after his death.

“ODM is not going anywhere. The party will not break. The principles and values Raila instilled in me remain strong in my heart,” he said. “Anyone who thinks they can break ODM will be the one forced to leave. This party is here to stay.”

Joho’s declaration echoed the sentiments of other ODM leaders who have vowed to protect Raila’s political legacy through unity and shared purpose.

ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna also pledged to defend the party’s cohesion, describing ODM as one of Raila’s greatest contributions to Kenya’s democracy.

“I have been privileged to learn from Raila and to serve him for eight years as Secretary General. I will not be part of those who fail ODM or Raila. I will do everything within my power to keep this party united, even when provoked,” Sifuna said.

He praised Raila as a leader who valued dialogue and inclusion, urging members to carry forward that spirit by working together for the future of the party.

Raila’s sister, Ruth Odinga, also recounted her final conversation with him, saying Raila had stressed the importance of keeping ODM strong and united.

“You told me, just a day before you passed on, that our party must stay united and remain one. We cannot have different ODM factions led by people who think they own the party,” she said.

As ODM leaders mourn the loss of their longtime leader, they have vowed to uphold his ideals of democracy, justice, and national unity, ensuring that the movement he built continues to stand firm.
