Joe Biden Attributes Long Marriage to ‘Good Sex’

A new book detailing the life of first lady Jill Biden suggests that President Joe Biden has humorously credited “good sex” as the secret behind their enduring 47-year marriage.

Titled “American Woman – The Transformation of the Modern First Lady, from Hillary Clinton to Jill Biden,” the book authored by New York Times White House correspondent Katie Rogers is set to be released this week. Despite comprising only a brief mention within its 276 pages, the revelation has already garnered considerable attention.

According to Rogers, Joe Biden jokingly remarked on the importance of intimacy in relationships during a conversation with aides. She recounts an instance in 2004 when Biden opted against a presidential run, an anecdote punctuated by his wife Jill entering the room wearing a halter top with the word “NO” written on her stomach.

At a supporters’ gathering that same year, Biden expressed his disinterest in running for president, stating, “I’d rather be at home making love to my wife while my children are asleep.” At the time, a spokesperson dismissed the comment, explaining that then-Senator Biden was deeply devoted to his wife.

While President Biden may have toned down such public declarations upon assuming office, Rogers notes that he continues to jest with aides about the importance of intimacy in a successful marriage, much to his wife’s amusement.

The book also delves into the personal tragedies endured by Joe Biden, including the loss of his first wife, Neilia, and daughter Naomi in a tragic car accident in 1972. Despite the profound grief, Biden found solace and eventual happiness with Jill, whom he married in 1977 after persistently proposing five times.

“I’ve been as patient as I know how to be, but this has got my Irish up. Either you decide to marry me or that’s it – I’m out. I’m not asking again,” Biden reportedly declared on his fifth proposal, as recounted by Rogers in the book.
