Speaking during an economic event in Kitui, Kindiki praised Kalonzo as a respectable, like-minded leader who has been influenced by divisive political actors.
“He is my brother, a lawyer like me. I’ll look for him,” said Kindiki, suggesting Kalonzo is being misled by those promoting ethnic politics.
Kindiki also took a veiled swipe at former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, questioning who between them is better suited to work with Kalonzo.
“Who can guide Kalonzo to meaningful politics that serve Ukambani and Kenya, rather than empty rhetoric?” he asked.
His remarks come amid a growing rivalry with Gachagua, sparked in part by accusations in March that Kindiki was using artists to falsely promote government success. Gachagua even urged a boycott of the musicians involved.
Kindiki, in response, criticized Gachagua for making divisive statements and has consistently urged unity over political incitement.
Meanwhile, Kalonzo has aligned with Gachagua’s faction, which includes Martha Karua, Fred Matiang’i, and Eugene Wamalwa.
