The United Arab Emirates (UAE) said it had been hit by a new attack from Iran involving 15 missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), in an incident that continues to heighten tensions in the Gulf region.
According to the UAE’s Ministry of Defense, the attack included 12 ballistic missiles, three cruise missiles and four drones. Three people were reportedly injured in the incident.
The UAE says its defense systems were able to block most of the attacks from Iran.
The statement added that the country’s air defense systems have been responding to the attacks since the start of the US-Iran conflict on February 28, claiming to have intercepted a total of 549 ballistic missiles, 29 cruise missiles and more than 2,260 drones.
