Police in Nyamira County have begun investigations into the killing of a Form Three student whose body was discovered over the weekend.
The victim, a student at Ikonge Secondary School, was found dead on Saturday, August 16, in Maitunya village, Sengera. His body was lying by the roadside near a tea-buying centre and appeared to have been at the scene for hours before being discovered.

Detectives believe he was murdered there, though the motive remains unknown. They said they are pursuing leads to establish what happened and to track down the attackers. The body was taken to the mortuary for preservation and postmortem.
The killing was one of several violent incidents reported across the country during the weekend.
In Olokurto, Narok County, 39-year-old George Gioche was found dead in a farm with a stab wound to the head on Friday evening. His body was moved to the mortuary as police investigate. No arrests have been made.
In Mbitini, Kitui County, a 42-year-old man died following injuries sustained in a fight. He was rushed to hospital but later succumbed. Police confirmed that one suspect has been arrested and will face charges, though the motive of the assault is still under investigation.
In Diani, Kwale County, an 89-year-old Swiss national, Bucher Hermann Willi, was found dead in his hotel room on August 15. He had been staying with a partner, who noticed he had not woken up. His body was transferred to the mortuary for autopsy to establish the cause of death.
