Residents Safely Evacuated after Collapse of Five-Story Building in Uthiru

All individuals inhabiting the five-story structure that collapsed in Uthiru, Nairobi County on Tuesday evening have been successfully rescued.

The Kenya Red Cross, among the primary responders, reported that ten individuals were safely evacuated with minor injuries and provided with initial medical assistance.

“Ten individuals with minor injuries received immediate attention from the Red Cross Action Team at the scene.”

However, one occupant required specialized medical care and was promptly transported to the hospital.

“A female occupant, rescued promptly during the incident, was transported to the hospital by concerned citizens,” stated the Red Cross.

In an update provided on Wednesday morning, all tenants had been safely removed from the premises.

The building, situated along Naivasha Road in Kangemi, purportedly began sinking around 10 pm and collapsed shortly after.

A collaborative effort involving the Red Cross, County Fire Brigade, police personnel, and others swiftly responded to the scene in Uthiru upon receiving distress calls.
