Authorities allege that Mwangi was involved in planning and facilitating activities classified as acts of terrorism. During the raid, detectives reportedly seized several electronic devices and documents.

Investigators claim Mwangi played a significant logistical and financial role in the June 25 protests, which saw deaths, injuries to police officers, and destruction of property.

His arrest has drawn sharp criticism from civil society organizations and human rights groups, who accuse the government of misusing anti-terror laws to stifle dissent and silence activists.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions is expected to apply for custodial orders, a common move in cases involving terrorism charges.
