The judge instructed all parties to adhere strictly to case management directions to prevent delays. Investigators and the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) were also ordered to provide the defence with witness statements and relevant video evidence within specified timelines.
Protected witnesses are expected to testify during the first two days of the hearings. By agreement of all parties, proceedings will begin on March 17, with five witnesses scheduled to give evidence on the opening day.
Justice Kavedza directed the DPP to share the names of initial prosecution witnesses in advance to avoid confusion.
The defence has been told to prepare its line of questioning thoroughly, while the prosecution confirmed it will submit CCTV footage as part of its evidence.

The case involves former Central Police Station Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Samson Talaam, Police Constable James Mukhwana, and four other co-accused charged with Ojwang’s murder.
Last year, the court denied bail to the accused, citing the risk of interference with witnesses and the heightened public interest in the matter. Justice Kavedza noted that Ojwang’s death in police custody in June sparked nationwide protests and property damage, making the case highly sensitive.
All six accused remain in police custody as they await the start of the trial.
