The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has revealed that the review of electoral boundaries for the 2027 general elections will be conducted in stages.
IEBC Chairperson Erastus Edung Ethekon explained that attempting a full boundary review before the elections would place excessive pressure on the commission’s capacity and timelines.
“Carrying out a complete boundary review ahead of the general election would strain our resources and disrupt critical preparations,” Ethekon said.
The phased review, the commission noted, is intended to ensure the process remains accurate and manageable, while allowing IEBC to meet essential election preparation deadlines.
