“Truphena Muthoni has finally been confirmed as the world record holder for the 48-hour tree hug. Thank you to Kenyans for pushing for this. We now want the 72-hour record recognised too!” Governor Kahiga said.

Guinness World Records sent an official message confirming that her submission had been approved, declaring her an official title holder.

“We are pleased to inform you that your attempt for the Longest Marathon Hugging a Tree is successful. You are now a Guinness World Records Title Holder,” the Records Management Team noted.

Muthoni started her 72-hour challenge on December 8, 2025, in Nyeri County, attracting attention from across the country. The attempt aimed to surpass her previous record—set earlier this year—when she hugged a tree for 48 hours at Nairobi’s Michuki Memorial Park.
