Speaking in Kabarnet on Saturday ahead of the 21st edition of Jukwaa la Usalama, Murkomen noted the government’s minimal presence in Tiaty and vowed to change that.
“For instance, Silale Ward only has one secondary school and lacks a police station. We must establish a government presence in these vulnerable areas,” he said.
Tiaty has long been identified as a hotspot for bandit attacks. To tackle insecurity, the CS said the government would also improve road access and network coverage in the area.

He also pledged to collaborate with local leaders and the county government to help residents acquire national identification cards.
“Tiaty has the highest number of adults without IDs—about 161,000 in the entire county. This must be addressed,” he stated.
Murkomen reaffirmed that the ongoing security operations will persist until stability returns to the region.

He began his visit by meeting the county’s security leadership and inspecting registration services at the County Commissioner’s Grounds.

The CS was accompanied by Deputy Inspector General of Police (APS) Gilbert Masengeli, Rift Valley Regional Commissioner Dr. Abdi Hassan, and other senior government officials.
