In an interview on Sunday night, Gachagua expressed regret over the decision to run in the 2022 election under a party that was not their own, highlighting the dissatisfaction of the people they represent.
“Our people regret that we entered the last election without our own party,” he said.
“Never again will we go to an election without a party.”
Addressing the discontent that arose after the election, the former Mathira MP emphasized that the region would not repeat this mistake in the future.
“This will never happen again, come rain or shine,” he said.
Without providing further details, Gachagua revealed that he had formed a new party and was in the process of building it.
He stated that the new party would better represent their interests and provide more autonomy, free from the disappointments and limitations they faced within UDA.
He apologized to the people of Mt Kenya for urging them to support President Ruto in the last election.
“Please forgive me, people can make mistakes,” he said.
Gachagua mentioned that even the clergy had supported Ruto, adding, “So who am I?”
“We believe that people from all across Kenya are backing our cause,” he added.
Since his impeachment last October, Gachagua’s Wamunyoro residence has been a hub of activity. Many politicians have visited his rural home in Mathira constituency to seek his blessings for the 2027 elections.

Gachagua is laying the groundwork for the upcoming General Elections.
His allies have confirmed that plans for the new political vehicle are complete as Gachagua seeks to solidify his influence in national politics. He also aims to consolidate his support in the Mount Kenya region, which has grown increasingly restless since his removal from office.
