Gachagua mentioned that he plans to reveal the party in May 2025, explaining, “For strategic reasons, I will not announce it today. The official launch will take place in May, and we will do so with a grand ceremony.”
He further expressed awareness of efforts to confuse the region by launching multiple political parties, some of which may field presidential candidates to divide the vote. He referred to past history, specifically the 1992 election when figures like Matiba, Kibaki, and Moi competed, with Moi emerging victorious. “We are working to identify such parties and inform the people about which presidential candidates are being promoted to cause division,” Gachagua said.
Gachagua also spoke about his visit to Martha Karua, saying, “I went to Martha Karua’s place in Gichugu because I realized I cannot win this political battle alone. Karua is a strong advocate for the region, and that’s why I visited her. She welcomed us warmly, and we will be there when her party is relaunched.”
Additionally, Gachagua mentioned that elders had instructed him to foster unity in the region.
Regarding his new party, Gachagua clarified that it would not feature the color yellow or the wheelbarrow symbol. He also confirmed that he had officially been removed from his role within the UDA, though he assured that his formal departure would happen soon.
