He described Kibet as a young and capable leader, expressing confidence in his ability to continue the legacy of the late MP Johana Ng’eno.
Gachagua noted that the 37-year-old former chief has strong grassroots backing and has shown leadership qualities that resonate with the community.
He said Kibet embodies the spirit and courage of the late Ng’eno and urged him to remain firm despite possible intimidation.
The DCP leader also warned him against being swayed by financial incentives, cautioning that he may be targeted with offers meant to influence his decisions. He said Kibet had already pledged before elders not to accept such inducements.
Gachagua voiced confidence in Kibet’s chances, stating that he could emerge victorious and become the first Member of Parliament elected under the DCP party.
He encouraged supporters to run an aggressive grassroots campaign, including door-to-door outreach, noting that the race would be competitive.

He also praised local elders for uniting leaders in the constituency, saying their efforts would strengthen the campaign.

Gachagua urged the campaign team to fine-tune their strategy and assured them of his willingness to join them on the ground once preparations are complete.

The Emurua Dikirr seat became vacant following the death of MP Johana Ng’eno in February 2026, who died in a helicopter crash alongside five others.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has set the by-election date for May 14, 2026.
