The blaze is believed to have started in one of the timber shops. The Nairobi City County Fire Department responded quickly to contain the fast-moving flames, which caused extensive damage estimated to be in the millions of shillings. The fire reportedly started around 2 p.m. on Sunday.
“It’s a massive fire, spreading rapidly to nearby structures,” said Habib Omar, a local resident. Residents are urging for additional fire engines and support from humanitarian groups. “We need immediate help from the KDF and the Kenya Red Cross,” Omar added. The incident occurred along Outering Road in Nairobi.
