IEBC Chairperson Edung Ethekon said the commission upheld strict standards of credibility and accountability, ensuring every eligible voter had a fair chance to participate.
“The KIEMS kits functioned almost flawlessly, supporting a smooth and trustworthy voting exercise. Although we observed voter apathy and a few efforts to influence results, our systems safeguarded the integrity of the polls,” he stated.
The by-elections, conducted across multiple constituencies, served as a key test of the commission’s readiness for the 2027 General Election, with KIEMS technology central to voter identification and verification.
Ethekon reaffirmed IEBC’s dedication to strengthening electoral operations, noting that insights from the by-elections will guide improvements in voter engagement and election security moving forward.
