Family, friends, and business associates will gather on Saturday to pay their last respects to Azym Dossa, founder of Easy Coach, who passed away this week following a brief illness.
Easy Coach described Dossa as a devoted family man and visionary entrepreneur, who led the transport company from its founding in 2003 until his recent retirement.

He is survived by his wife Dilshad Dossa, sons Tariq and Khaled Dossa, daughters-in-law Armita, and grandchildren Kian and Arman.
“Azym was known for his kindness, generosity, wit, and wisdom. His charismatic presence and genuine compassion left a lasting mark on the community,” the company said in a statement.
The funeral will take place at the Aga Khan Cultural and Religious Centre along 5th Parklands Avenue on Saturday, February 28, at 9:15 a.m., with the cortège proceeding to the Ismaili Cemetery at 10 a.m.
Dossa’s passing concludes a 21-year journey at the helm of one of East Africa’s leading passenger transport firms. Under his leadership, Easy Coach expanded from a modest start-up with seven buses on a single Nairobi–Kisumu route to a major intercity operator serving over 35 destinations in the region.
He is credited with establishing the company’s operational culture, implementing structured schedules, standby buses for emergencies, and a customer-focused approach that fostered trust in long-distance travel.
“It’s with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Azym Dossa, founding director and former managing director of Easy Coach,” the company said earlier, highlighting his strategic vision that shaped the firm’s formative years.
Before starting Easy Coach, Dossa served as Chief Financial Officer at the now-defunct Akamba Bus, gaining experience that informed his approach to modernizing Kenya’s passenger transport sector. He retired due to health reasons and age but remained involved in an advisory capacity.

During his tenure, Dossa guided the company through challenging periods, including the Covid-19 pandemic, which significantly disrupted the transport industry. “Our profits dropped sharply, and reserves were heavily depleted. However, strategic decisions were made to ensure the survival of the business while safeguarding employees,” he said in a past interview.
In paying tribute, Easy Coach extended gratitude to Warshow, Sheikh’s team, and staff at Aga Khan University Hospital for their care.
“On behalf of shareholders, the Board of Directors, management, and staff, we express our deepest condolences to Dossa’s family and loved ones. May Almighty Allah grant him eternal peace. Amen.”
