The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) secured a clean sweep in recent by-elections, winning all four contested seats amid low voter turnout.
In Isiolo South constituency, UDA candidate Mohammed Tubi claimed the seat with 7,352 votes, defeating his closest rival Bina Tubi of the Jubilee Party, who managed just 634 votes. Independent contender Isaac Abduba trailed with 44 votes. Results from all 60 polling stations confirmed UDA’s decisive victory, highlighting the party’s stronghold in the region.

Isiolo South has 22,181 registered voters, and the mini-poll drew attention nationally due to its unusual political dynamics. In a notable twist, the by-election featured a rare sibling rivalry: Mohammed Tubi and Bina Tubi, children of the late former MP Mohamed Tubi Bidu, competed directly for the seat. Despite their shared political lineage, neither was willing to step aside, fueling a high-stakes contest that captivated the constituency.
Throughout the campaign, Mohammed Tubi expressed confidence, praising IEBC preparations and urging residents to participate in shaping the constituency’s future.
Elsewhere, UDA also triumphed: Duncan Muratia won the Evurore seat in Embu County with 7,853 votes, Peterson Njeru claimed the Muminji Ward seat with 3,207 votes, and Elphas Shalakha secured West Kabras Ward in Kakamega County with 3,317 votes.

The Isiolo South parliamentary seat had fallen vacant following the death of Mohamed Tubi Bidu on November 12, 2025, while receiving medical treatment in Nairobi. Bidu, elected in the 2022 general election on a Jubilee Party ticket, had been a prominent figure in local politics.
The February 26 by-elections also included other mini-polls nationwide to fill vacant county assembly seats, reinforcing UDA’s dominance across several regions.
