At least 18 people have died and 10 others were injured in an accident at the New Delhi railway station.
Thousands of people were reportedly packed into the train station on Saturday night as they tried to board delayed trains.
Four of the victims were children, while 10 were women, according to a list provided by officials.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he was “with all those who have lost their loved ones” through his X message.
Crowd stampedes are reported to occur frequently in India, where there is always a lot of traffic, either at religious events, festivals, or public places.
The incident comes weeks after 30 people were killed in a stampede at dawn at the Kumbh Mela religious festival in northern India, where tens of millions of Hindus had gathered to bathe in the sacred waters of a river.
