The five-day biennial summit, which kicks off on September 4, is organised by Afreximbank, the African Union Commission, and the AfCFTA Secretariat under the theme “Gateway to New Opportunities.”

With more than 1,600 exhibitors and tens of thousands of delegates, the fair has established itself as Africa’s largest platform for trade, investment, and economic collaboration. It offers opportunities for matchmaking between buyers and sellers, showcasing investments, and expanding access to trade finance.

Speaking ahead of the trip, Wetang’ula reiterated Kenya’s commitment to leveraging the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to open markets for local businesses.

“IATF 2025 offers businesses access to an integrated African market of 1.4 billion people with a combined GDP of over $3.5 trillion,” he said.

Kenya has been stepping up efforts to grow its share of African trade, with a focus on manufactured goods, processed agricultural exports, and services. The Algerian forum is seen as a chance to position the country as a hub for investment and innovation.

Analysts say that boosting intra-African trade will reduce reliance on external markets, spur industrialisation, and create jobs. During the fair, the Kenyan delegation will also hold side meetings with investors, business partners, and regional leaders.

Launched in Cairo in 2018, IATF was designed to unlock opportunities under the AfCFTA by bringing together governments, investors, and enterprises from across the continent.
