The high court has directed the swift handling of an application requesting the production of Wajir County Assembly member Yussuf Hassan Ahmed, who was abducted a month ago.
Justice Alexander Muteti noted that a medical report confirmed the body discovered in a lake in Wajir does not belong to Ahmed, who was taken on September 13, 2024, in South B.
The judge ordered the application to be heard tomorrow at 2 PM, emphasizing the seriousness of the case. During the hearing, representatives from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and the Attorney General sought to have the application dismissed.
The judge ruled that the application is aimed at determining the fate of the MCA, whether he is alive or deceased, and ultimately rejected the DPP and AG’s request.
The family’s lawyers—Danstan Omari, Samson Nyaberi, and Shadrack Wambui—argued that the case must be heard to allow the court to reach a conclusion.
Family and friends, accompanied by Mandera MP Adan Keynan, filled the Milimani Law Courts, urging for justice. During the proceedings, a prosecutor from the DPP’s office requested an adjournment, but the court refused.
