Militants suspected to be affiliated with Al-Shabaab carried out an attack on the Quick Response Unit (QRU) Camp of the National Police Service in Mandera County on Friday morning.
According to police reports, over 20 heavily-armed militants approached the camp from the northwest, launching their assault within 100 meters of the camp. The responding officers acted swiftly, engaging in a 15-minute gun battle that successfully repelled the attackers.
Despite the intensity of the confrontation, no police officers were killed or injured during the incident. The militants eventually fled, and the situation is currently reported to be under control, with all officers unharmed and accounted for.
