Images and videos circulating on social media show her in a thigh-length jacket over extremely short shorts that were barely visible, giving the impression she was wearing only the jacket. She paired the look with knee-high boots, completing a party-inspired ensemble.
While mingling and dancing with dignitaries such as Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga and MPs Millie Odhiambo and Naisula Lesuuda, Akothee appeared unfazed by the attention. On Facebook, she praised the look, calling it “RumaNght by Akothee” and writing, “This is how we are rocking December streets. Warm, long legs. If you got it, show it.”
Reactions online were divided. MC Awesome questioned if women still value “decorum” and societal standards, while Mbewa Onyango urged female leaders to consider the image they project to young girls. Supporters like Stella Kanja defended her, saying she attended as “Akothee” and not “Esther,” and that she inspires many.
Another video showed her dancing with Luo artist Prince Indah, further fueling discussion.
Akothee is no stranger to such attention — just a week earlier, she shared a photo in a short dress, cheekily responding to critics: “Did you say the dress too short? Ooh darling, it’s the legs longer than the dress.”
