Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has renewed her calls for ODM leader Raila Odinga to back Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka in the upcoming 2027 presidential election.

During her Sunday address at AIC Baraka in Mlolongo, Machakos County, following Raila’s defeat in the African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship race, Ndeti reassured Raila that all was not lost, emphasizing that he still had important work to do in Kenya.

“As a nation, we prayed for Baba (Raila) because the position he was vying for was not just his but also for the pride of our country. Even my party leader Kalonzo Musyoka supported him. We need him here to help move Kenya forward,” Ndeti said.

Earlier, while speaking to mourners in Siaya County, Governor Ndeti urged the people of Nyanza to consider supporting Kalonzo for the 2027 presidency, highlighting Kalonzo’s long-standing loyalty to Raila for 15 years.
She repeated this message at the church service, calling for Nyanza to reciprocate the loyalty Kalonzo has shown Raila over the years.
“We’ve been with Baba for 15 years, remaining faithful. Now, we ask our brothers and sisters from Nyanza to support us, as Kalonzo is now running for president,” she stated.
On February 6, Kalonzo announced that he would no longer support another presidential candidate in the 2027 race, insisting that it was his time and others should step aside for him.

The former Vice President stressed his past sacrifices, having stepped down for Raila three times, and declared himself the strongest candidate to challenge President William Ruto in 2027.
“I’ve waited for 20 years. There comes a time when even the world acknowledges it’s your turn,” he said. “The time has come for others to make way for me so we can save this country. I’ve supported Raila Odinga for 15 years.”
Kalonzo backed Raila’s presidential campaigns in 2013, 2017, and 2022, and in 2007, he ran for president but lost to Mwai Kibaki before being appointed Vice President in the Grand Coalition Government.
Currently, Kalonzo is collaborating with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa to form a coalition aimed at challenging Ruto in the 2027 elections.
