Gachagua pointed out that for many years, the people of Western Kenya have failed to consolidate their efforts, weakening their bargaining power and leaving them open to ridicule.

In a speech on Tuesday, he emphasized that the Luhya community has the numbers to form the next government.

“Where I stand, that’s where the government will be. I bring a wealth of political experience, having studied political science,” Gachagua remarked.

While speaking to the Mulembe Nation during an interview on local radio stations, he lamented that the community has often been left with political “scraps.”

“A game with the Mulembe Nation involved is a game over,” he stated.

“It’s unfortunate that such a large community is settling for scraps. Why should such a populous group depend on sympathy when they have the numbers to lead? It just doesn’t make sense.”

Gachagua further argued that aligning with the Mount Kenya region would make forming the next government much easier.

“You have the numbers—this government is within your reach,” he told the people of Western Kenya.

“If you choose to walk with us, bring your numbers to the table and make your demands. That way, we will form the government together.”

Reflecting on past political collaborations, Gachagua recalled the 2002 election when the Luhya community played a pivotal role in helping former President Mwai Kibaki end KANU’s reign.

“We are heading towards another 2002 moment—just like the Mulembe Nation was part of the government then, it can once again help shape the next administration,” he said.

Gachagua’s comments came days after President Ruto’s six-day tour of the region.
