Former Kilgoris MP Gideon Konchellah to Be Laid to Rest on Saturday

Former Kilgoris Member of Parliament Gideon Konchellah will be buried on Saturday, June 20, at his Olalui home in Narok County following his death on June 12.

Konchellah, a retired Lieutenant Colonel and former legislator, is remembered for his long public service career and leadership roles in government and Parliament.

His family described him as a devoted husband to Hulda Konchela, a loving father, grandfather, mentor, and friend.

Family, friends, and associates have been gathering daily at Nairobi Club from 5:30 pm for prayers and funeral arrangements, while a memorial service is set for Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Nairobi Baptist Church starting at 10:00 am. The burial service will take place at his Olalui home.

Konchellah served as Kilgoris MP for multiple terms between 2003 and 2022 and previously held a Cabinet position in the Ministry of Immigration and Registration of Persons during the Kibaki administration. He remained an influential political and community figure in Narok County even after leaving elective politics.

The National Assembly led tributes in honour of the late leader, with Speaker Moses Wetang’ula describing him as a distinguished legislator whose contribution left a lasting mark on Kenya’s parliamentary history.

President William Ruto also mourned Konchellah, praising his dedication to public service and saying his leadership extended beyond politics to the many lives he impacted.

Parliament observed a moment of silence in his honour as leaders from across the political divide paid tribute to his service, describing him as a leader who combined parliamentary experience with executive responsibility.
