Kenya to Experience Rainfall in Multiple Regions, Jan 28 – Feb 3

Kenya’s Meteorological Department (Met) has predicted that rainfall will persist in various regions of the country from January 28 to February 3, 2025.

The affected areas include the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, and the southeastern lowlands.

However, the Coast, North-eastern, and Northwestern Kenya are expected to remain mostly sunny and dry.

Temperatures in the Coast, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya will likely exceed 30°C during the day.

In contrast, the Highlands East of the Rift Valley and parts of the North and Central Rift Valley are expected to experience minimum night-time temperatures below 10°C.

Residents of the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley should expect morning rains, followed by afternoon and night showers with possible thunderstorms.

This includes areas such as Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, West-Pokot, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, and Narok Counties.

In Northwestern Kenya (Turkana and Samburu Counties), the forecast includes sunny intervals during the day and partly cloudy nights, though morning rains, afternoon, and night showers with thunderstorms could occur sporadically during the first half of the forecast period.

The Highlands East of the Rift Valley (including Nairobi County) are expected to see morning rains in a few places, with the possibility of afternoon and night showers and thunderstorms, which may occasionally spread to other areas.

This region includes Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi, and Nairobi Counties.

The North-eastern region (Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo Counties) is expected to have sunny intervals during the day and partly cloudy nights.

In the South-eastern lowlands (Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, Taita-Taveta, and parts of Tana River County), morning rains and afternoon and night showers with thunderstorms are possible.

The Coast (Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale Counties, and the coastal parts of Tana River) is likely to experience sunny intervals during the day and partly cloudy nights. There could also be morning and afternoon showers in parts of the South Coast during the first half of the forecast period.
