Two Arrested for Stealing Ksh 500,000 from Locked Car in Nairobi

Two men have been arrested for stealing Ksh 500,000 from a locked car in Nairobi.

According to a statement released by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on January 23, 2025, the suspects were apprehended in a joint operation involving DCI officers from Embakasi and the manager of NCBA Bank’s Utawala branch.

The arrested individuals, Charles Mulwa Mwema and Shaban Maingi Rashid, are known for stealing from locked vehicles parked outside banks. They are also linked to several other car break-ins, including one on November 23, 2024, at Bensquare Police Post, where they stole Ksh 500,000.

The suspects are currently in police custody in Utawala as investigations continue, and they are expected to be charged in court soon.
