The first phase of the national jobs recruitment initiative has successfully concluded in the lower eastern counties of Machakos, Makueni, and Kitui.

During the final event at Mulango Technical Vocational College in Kitui, Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection, Alfred Mutua, encouraged the youth to seize this opportunity to transform their futures.
Mutua highlighted the government’s dedication to empowering young people through overseas employment opportunities.
The recruitment drive, which began on Wednesday in Machakos, aims to secure job placements for at least 20,000 Kenyans in various countries.
“This program is not only about finding work abroad; it’s about providing our youth with a chance to thrive and improve their livelihoods,” said Dr. Mutua. “I urge all young people in this region to engage fully and ensure they are prepared with the necessary documents.”
Hundreds of job seekers participated in the recruitment event, with many receiving provisional job offers. Mutua advised them to gather key documents such as certificates of good conduct and passports, assuring them of the government’s support throughout the process.
Several successful applicants expressed their appreciation for the program. “This initiative is a game-changer. It gives us hope and a chance to build better futures for ourselves and our families,” shared one of the candidates.

Dr. Mutua was joined by Kitui County Commissioner Kipchumba Ruto and other local officials. The event saw a high turnout and strong enthusiasm, reflecting the demand for such programs.
With Phase 1 now complete, the recruitment program will move on to other regions.
