The number of fatalities from the road accident on the Eldoret-Nakuru route near Salgaa’s Migaa area has risen to 13.
The incident, which occurred early Tuesday morning around 5 a.m., involved a PSV bus and multiple other vehicles.
Among the deceased are five women, seven men, and one infant. The death toll increased as more bodies were retrieved from the wreckage.
Additionally, 55 people have been injured and are receiving treatment in various local hospitals.
The bus, en route from Kericho to Nakuru, reportedly lost its brakes while navigating a steep section of the road. It crashed into barriers and other vehicles before ending up in a ditch.
Rift Valley Regional Police Commander Jasper Ombati has confirmed the accident.
The area has a history of such severe accidents, and this is the most recent incident to occur there.
