Dry Spell Expected Across Most of the Country This Week – Met

The weather forecast for August 6 to August 12, 2024, predicts a dry spell with sunny and relatively warm daytime temperatures for most regions.

According to the forecast, the initial part of the week will see sunny weather and warm temperatures across much of the country. However, conditions are expected to shift to intermittent cold and cloudy weather in parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Southeastern lowlands, and the Rift Valley.

The Kenya Meteorological Department reports that some regions, including the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, North-western Kenya, the Rift Valley, and the Coast, will continue to experience rainfall. Meanwhile, the majority of the country will remain dry.

High daytime temperatures, exceeding 30°C, are anticipated in parts of the Coast, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya. Conversely, average nighttime temperatures may drop below 10°C in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, the Southeastern lowlands, and the Rift Valley.

The Highlands West of the Rift Valley and the Rift Valley will see morning rains, with some areas experiencing afternoon and nighttime showers and thunderstorms. The Lake Victoria Basin will have sunny intervals during the day with partly cloudy nights and occasional afternoon showers and thunderstorms.

In North-western Kenya, including Turkana and Samburu Counties, morning rains and occasional afternoon and nighttime showers are expected, with the possibility of these conditions spreading to other areas during the early part of the week.

The Highlands East of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi County, will experience intermittent cloudiness and light morning rains, transitioning to sunny intervals. Afternoons and nights will feature showers over elevated areas.

North-eastern Kenya will see sunny intervals during the day with partly cloudy nights, while Marsabit County may experience morning rains and occasional afternoon and nighttime showers.

The Southeastern lowlands will have occasional morning cloudiness giving way to sunny intervals, with partly cloudy nights. The Coast will experience morning and afternoon showers in some areas, with nights expected to be partly cloudy.
