Kenyans in UK Urged to Remain Vigilant Amid Protests

The Kenyan High Commission in the UK has advised its citizens to remain vigilant due to ongoing protests.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the High Commission urged Kenyans residing in the UK to be cautious about their movements and to follow local authorities’ instructions.

They also recommended that Kenyans register with the High Commission via its website.

“The High Commission advises Kenyans in the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland to stay alert and heed guidance from local authorities,” the statement said. “Kenyans are strongly encouraged to register with the High Commission through our website.”

The Mission is closely monitoring the unrest that has affected several cities in the UK.

“The Kenya High Commission is actively observing the ongoing social unrest in various UK cities.”

Recent reports indicate that nearly 400 individuals have been arrested following six days of rioting in parts of England and Northern Ireland, which started on July 30, 2024. The unrest followed a stabbing attack in Southport that killed three children the previous Monday.

Several police officers have been injured in the protests, which have impacted Southport, London, Middlesbrough, Sunderland, Manchester, Bristol, Hartlepool, Rotherham, Hull, Hampshire, and Belfast.
