Martha Karua’s notable absence from a recent Azimio la Umoja coalition meeting led to speculation, especially after Narc Kenya announced its intention to exit the coalition.
Along with Karua, DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa was also missing from the gathering, which included prominent figures such as Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, Gideon Moi, Jeremiah Kioni, and Peter Munya. Siaya Governor James Orengo also attended.
A concerned X user questioned Karua’s absence, prompting her to respond with a simple, “Keeping to my lane,” indicating her choice to remain uninvolved.
Following the meeting, Raila Odinga stated that the leaders gathered to discuss the national conversation agenda.
Meanwhile, Kalonzo Musyoka reiterated his firm stance against participating in the national dialogue, declaring, “No National Conversation!”
Raila had previously agreed to President William Ruto’s request to include five of his allies in the cabinet as part of a “broad-based government” aimed at fostering national unity. The new appointees, including former governors Hassan Joho and Wycliffe Oparanya, and others, are now awaiting parliamentary vetting and approval.
Raila explained that his decision to allow these appointments was driven by Ruto’s urgent need to reconstitute the cabinet, with any unresolved issues to be addressed later.
