Uasin Gishu County has decided to rename one of its hospitals as a tribute to First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto.
The West Maternity Hospital has undergone renovations and expansions and will now bear the name Mama Rachel Ruto Maternity Hospital. The renaming was endorsed through public involvement by local inhabitants, and the First Lady is scheduled to inaugurate the hospital during her visit to Eldoret on Tuesday.
Governor Jonathan Bii highlighted that this gesture acknowledges the First Lady’s dedication to supporting women, girls, and children, both within Uasin Gishu and nationally.
Additionally, the county recently received pharmaceutical supplies worth Sh37 million from the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) ahead of her visit. Governor Bii personally received and dispatched the drugs to the 138 health facilities in the county, stressing the timely and significant impact on residents’ health.
He emphasized the direct distribution of drugs to health facilities to expedite their availability for immediate use, bypassing the initial drug store.
Governor Bii reiterated his administration’s commitment to the welfare of its citizens and announced plans to introduce drone technology to enhance the healthcare system, underscoring the administration’s responsiveness and care for residents’ lives as per their electoral mandate.
