Gov’t Announces New Half-Term Dates After Floods

To compensate for lost instructional time during the flood-related school closures, the Ministry of Education has adjusted the Half-Term dates for Term Two.

Education Principal Secretary Dr. Belio Kipsang announced the revision on Wednesday.

According to the update, students in pre-primary, primary, and secondary schools will now observe half-term from June 26th to June 28th, 2024. Initially, the break was scheduled for June 20th-23rd.

Dr. Kipsang instructed all County Directors of Education to inform school administrators about the change and anticipate potential adjustments to planned activities and schedules.

The initial school reopening date of April 29, 2024, was delayed twice due to heavy rains. Eventually, schools resumed on May 13th, following improved weather conditions.
