Nairobi: Two Trees Falls Near Imenti House, Closes Moi Avenue

The ongoing heavy rains across the nation have caused significant disruption, particularly at a vital junction in Nairobi’s CBD.

Photos obtained by The Lower Eastern Times reveal the aftermath of Tuesday night’s intense rainfall, which led to the toppling of two of the city’s oldest trees at the intersection of Kenyatta Avenue and Moi Avenue, outside the Nairobi Sports House and Imenti House buildings.

These fallen trees blocked important entry and exit points, resulting in the paralysis of operations throughout Wednesday morning as pedestrians were redirected to alternative routes.

Additionally, other regions were affected, with Kitengela Road in Kajiado County closed due to flooding from River Athi between Portland and the interchange, leading to traffic diversions to Makadara.

Several areas, including Thika, Parklands, Imara Daima, and Langata Road, remain submerged.
