TSC Opens 24,000 Internship Positions for JSS Teachers

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced 24,000 internship vacancies in Junior Secondary Schools to boost the rollout of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).

In a notice issued Tuesday, the Commission said the one-year internship will give unemployed, registered teachers mentorship, coaching, and hands-on classroom experience. Successful interns will earn a monthly stipend of Ksh20,000, subject to statutory deductions.

Applications will be submitted online between Tuesday, August 26, and Monday, September 9, 2025, through the TSC career portal at www.tsc.go.ke or teachersonline.tsc.go.ke. The Commission warned applicants to beware of fraudsters posing as recruiters and urged reporting of any suspicious activity to TSC offices or the police.

Eligibility
Applicants must be Kenyan citizens, hold at least a diploma in education, and have scored a minimum mean grade of C+ in KCSE, including C+ in two teaching subjects. Registration with the TSC is mandatory. Candidates must also be unemployed, free of disciplinary cases, and willing to serve in any school where vacancies exist.

Required Documents
Shortlisted candidates will present original academic and professional certificates, TSC registration certificate, national ID, KRA PIN, two colored passport photos, and proof of personal accident insurance cover.

TSC emphasized that only online applications will be accepted, and successful candidates will be deployed to junior schools within the sub-county or county where they are interviewed.
