Machakos: Thugs Assault Guard, Damage KPLC Transformer

Authorities are looking into an incident where assailants attacked a security guard before causing damage to a transformer in Matungulu, Machakos County.

During the early hours of Friday morning, a group of armed individuals reportedly restrained Ezekiel Munyau, 53, who was on duty, and proceeded to remove parts from the transformer belonging to the Kenya Power and Lighting Company Ltd. The incident occurred just a short distance from Tala police station in the Matungulu subcounty.

Matungulu subcounty police commander Peter Omondi stated that the attack took place around 2:00 am. According to Omondi, the perpetrators incapacitated the guard and dismantled the transformer, causing extensive damage.

Fortunately, the guard sustained no injuries and was discovered still bound when authorities arrived on the scene the following day. Both the Kenya Police Service and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, stationed at Tala police station, conducted an examination of the area and confirmed the vandalism of the transformer.

As of the time of reporting, no suspects had been apprehended, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
