Inside the room, police discovered the body of Noordin Billow Ali lying on a bed, completely burned.

Preliminary reports indicate that the man’s wife had left the home earlier in the morning with their children for school, leaving him asleep. She is said to have locked the house before returning later to find it already engulfed in flames, with emergency responders on the scene.

The fire also destroyed household items whose value has not yet been determined.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, and investigations are ongoing. The scene was processed by crime scene officers, and the body was moved to City Mortuary for post-mortem examination.

In a separate incident in Mt Elgon, Bungoma County, a 45-year-old man died following a domestic dispute that escalated into a fatal stabbing.

Police said the incident happened on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at around 8:30 p.m., after a disagreement between the man and his wife turned violent.

The woman reportedly alerted neighbours through her children, prompting residents to respond and rush the injured man to Mt Elgon Sub-County Hospital, where he later died while receiving treatment.

Investigators recovered a blood-stained kitchen knife believed to have been used in the attack, and the suspect was taken into custody to assist with investigations.

The body was moved to Kimilili Sannte Mortuary awaiting post-mortem as police continue with inquiries into the incident.
