Nairobi: 19-Year-Old Killed in Suspected Love Triangle

Detectives in Makadara, Nairobi, have launched investigations into the killing of a 19-year-old man who was allegedly stabbed to death near a railway crossing footbridge in Mukuru kwa Njenga in what police suspect may have been linked to a love triangle.

Police said the incident was reported on May 24, 2026, by a member of the public.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased was involved in a confrontation with another man in the presence of a woman believed to have been his girlfriend before the fatal stabbing occurred.

The victim was identified by his sister as Morgan Kundu Simiyu, a resident of Maziwa Estate in Mukuru kwa Njenga.

Police said the body had a stab wound on the right side of the chest. The girlfriend was later taken to the police station to record a statement and assist detectives with investigations.

Crime scene officers from Makadara documented the area before the body was transferred to Nairobi City Mortuary for a postmortem examination.

In a separate incident, police in Machakos are investigating the sudden death of a 43-year-old man whose body was found inside a room at an apartment building in the Miwani area.

The incident was reported on May 24, 2026, at around 4.50 pm.

Officers who visited the scene found the body of Muthui Benard Munene lying on a mattress placed on the floor inside a room beneath a staircase within the apartment compound.

Initial investigations revealed that the deceased was a tenant at the apartments but had allegedly been locked out over unpaid rent and had been relying on friends for accommodation.

Police said he had been staying with the apartment’s watchman since May 22.

According to investigators, the watchman left him in the room at about 7.30 am on Sunday and later returned at around 2 pm only to find him unconscious.

Crime scene investigators processed the scene before the body, which showed no visible injuries, was moved to Machakos Level 5 Hospital mortuary awaiting an autopsy.

Meanwhile, police in Kasarani are searching for a suspect linked to the fatal stabbing of a 36-year-old man following a disagreement in the Gituamba area.

Police said the incident happened after two men who knew each other became involved in an argument that later turned violent.

The deceased, identified as Simon Nganga Maina, reportedly sustained a deep stab wound on the thigh after he was attacked by the suspect, who escaped immediately after the incident.

A witness alerted police at around 7.50 pm.

Maina was rushed to St. Francis Hospital but was pronounced dead while receiving treatment.

Officers from Sunton Police Station visited the hospital and confirmed the victim had suffered a deep cut wound on the right thigh.

Police said the weapon used in the attack was not recovered and the motive for the killing is still under investigation. Detectives have since launched a manhunt for the suspect, who remains at large.
