APS Bomet Secure Top-Flight Survival with Famous Win Over AFC Leopards

APS Bomet FC have officially secured their place in the FKF Premier League next season after registering a memorable 2-1 victory over giants AFC Leopards SC at Kericho Green Stadium.

The victory marked yet another milestone in what has become one of the most remarkable comeback stories of the season. The Black Berets stretched their unbeaten run to 10 matches, including an impressive seven straight league victories, completing a dramatic rise from 17th place in March to 10th position on the table with 43 points.

Head coach Sammy “Pamzo” Omollo made two changes to his starting lineup, bringing in Hansel and Naibei as APS Bomet looked to continue their fine run of form against the former league champions.

After a tightly contested first half ended goalless, team captain Philip Wasai stepped up when it mattered most. The forward opened the scoring in the 61st minute with a composed finish past the Leopards goalkeeper before striking again just three minutes later to complete a brilliant brace and send the home fans into celebration mode.

Wasai’s clinical display earned him the Man of the Match award as he once again proved decisive for the high-flying side.

At the other end, goalkeeper Mulili produced crucial saves in the 58th and 79th minutes to preserve Bomet’s advantage, pulling off outstanding point-blank stops to frustrate the visitors.

Although APS Bomet conceded an unfortunate own goal in the 88th minute — ending their historic 851-minute clean-sheet streak — the hosts remained composed and defended bravely through five minutes of stoppage time to seal all three points.

The victory officially guarantees APS Bomet’s survival in the top flight, an incredible achievement for the newly promoted side that spent much of the season battling near the relegation zone.

With safety secured, focus now shifts to finishing the season strongly. APS Bomet still have a realistic chance of climbing as high as sixth place in the standings ahead of the final round of fixtures.

Their final challenge comes on Sunday, May 31, 2026, when the in-form Law Enforcers travel to face title contenders Tusker FC in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.

The National Police Service praised the players, fans, and sponsors for their unwavering support throughout the campaign, as APS Bomet continue writing a historic chapter in the club’s journey.
