The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has simplified the process for obtaining new generation number plates into three steps.
Motorists need to log in to their E-citizen account, select the NTSA portal, then the motor vehicle and view. The second step involves clicking on motor vehicle services, selecting reflective plate, choosing plate type, and the collection office.
Applicants must attach required documents in a single PDF format. The third step includes ticking the declaration box, clicking preview and submit to pay for the plate, and receiving a collection notification through SMS.
The processing time is seven days, and collection centers are identified through SMS alerts. Reflective number plates cost Sh1,550 for a single plate and Sh3,050 for a pair.
The current fifth-generation number plate application deadline is April 2024.
