Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has urged young people across the country to step forward and contest elective positions in the 2027 General Election, saying Kenya needs a new generation of leaders focused on unity, service, and development.
Speaking during a Jubilee Party delegates meeting at the Kiambu Golf Club in Kiambu, Uhuru said leadership should be inclusive and driven by a desire to improve the lives of citizens rather than fuel political divisions.

He encouraged youths not to fear political office, stressing that the country belongs to all Kenyans and that young people have a key role to play in shaping its future.
At the same time, the former President warned politicians and aspirants against inciting the public, saying inflammatory statements could deepen ethnic tensions and weaken national unity ahead of the elections.
He emphasised the importance of cohesion, urging leaders to avoid divisive politics and focus on ideas that promote development and stability.
Uhuru reiterated that Kenya’s strength lies in its unity and called on leaders to act responsibly as the country approaches the 2027 polls.
Other speakers, including Jubilee-linked political figures, welcomed the message, saying it would encourage greater youth participation in governance and strengthen democratic processes within the party.
They said the call for free and fair nominations would open up political space for emerging leaders and help renew leadership at both party and national levels.
They also supported Uhuru’s warning against incitement, urging politicians to maintain peace and concentrate on issues that improve livelihoods rather than fueling political rivalry.
